To include a video within your Sales Enablement module, you must first host it on a video platform and then use the embed URL to add it to your unit in Trailmaker. This process embeds the video as an iFrame (inline frame, a standard web element for embedding external content). If your video is stored privately, you may need to edit the unit's HTML file directly.
Use this process when you want to include video demonstrations, walkthroughs, or multimedia content in your Sales Enablement training units. Videos can enhance learner engagement and make complex topics easier to understand.
Follow these instructions to embed a video in a Sales Enablement module.
Host Your Video: Upload your video to a supported hosting platform, such as YouTube, Vidyard, or Vimeo.
Get the Embed URL: Find the "embed URL" for your video. This is different from the standard sharing URL. Typically, you can find this in the "Share" or "Embed" options on the video's page. You only need the URL portion from the embed code.
Example (YouTube):
Click the Share button below the video, then select Embed.
In the code that appears, copy the URL from the src attribute.
For a video with the URL https://youtu.be/2NqeDkdOtA0, the correct embed URL is https://www.youtube.com/embed/2NqeDkdOtA0.
Add the Video in Trailmaker:
Open your Sales Enablement module in the Trailmaker Content app.
Navigate to the unit where you want to add the video.
In the formatting toolbar, click the video icon.
Paste the embed URL into the field and click Insert.
If the standard method doesn't work because your video is stored on a private server (e.g., behind a VPN or on Amazon S3), you may need to edit the unit's HTML file directly. This requires comfort with HTML editing.
Download the Module: From Trailmaker, download the backpack (ZIP file) for the module containing the unit you want to edit.
Locate the HTML File: Unzip the backpack and find the content.html file for the specific unit.
Edit the HTML: Open the content.html file in an HTML editor. Manually add or edit the <iframe> code to embed your private video. You need the correct embeddable URL from your private hosting solution. (Note: Salesforce Support cannot assist with custom HTML editing or identifying the correct code for your specific hosting setup).
Re-upload the Module: Save your changes to the content.html file, re-zip the module folder, and import the backpack back into your Trailmaker Content Workspace.
Preview and Publish: Add the updated module to a release and use the Preview function to ensure the video works as expected before publishing.
