In Lightning Experience, users may see two 'Recently Viewed' list views for the same object. This article explains why both appear and describes the differences between them.
In Salesforce Classic, there is only one 'Recently Viewed' Objects, such as Accounts or Contacts.
This is working as designed. In Lightning Experience, two separate list views exist for recently viewed records — 'Recently Viewed' and 'Recently Viewed [Object Name]'. These are distinct views with different capabilities and sort behaviors, and both are expected to appear simultaneously. Lightning Experience only.
