Learn about the 'Enhanced Email' and EmailMessage objects

  • When the Enhanced Email feature is activated, emails sent from Salesforce are logged as Email Messages and Tasks.  
  • The email messages are displayed in the Related List on the Object the email is sent from.  
  • The Tasks are NOT displayed on records in Salesforce with Enhanced Email activated.

  • The Email Message record respects established mail paradigms for compliance.  
  • The email record in Salesforce has to be a non-editable, accurate representation of the mail the end user receives.  
  • Unlike the Task object which is editable, Email messages cannot be edited through the User Interface or the API.
  • You can now report on Email Message records as of Summer '21. Check the Release Notes  for more information on this feature.

Note: The EmailMessage object is not currently supported in Salesforce for iOS or Android, and users will not be able to view any related attachments from Enhanced Emails from the Task.
