'Delete' or 'Refresh' button not available for sandbox

When you try to delete or refresh a Salesforce sandbox that was recently created, cloned, or refreshed, the Delete or Refresh button may not be visible. This is expected behavior — a specific grace period or refresh interval must pass before these options become available.

Why the Delete or Refresh Button is Not Available

This behaviour is expected and works as designed. The options to delete or refresh a sandbox will only become available when the sandbox has completed activation and if its corresponding refresh window or interval has passed.

Grace Period Details

There is a 24-hour grace period before a cloned or refreshed Developer and Developer Pro sandbox can be deleted. You will need to wait until after 24 hours from when the Sandbox was created before you can delete it.

How to Check Sandbox Options

To check the available options for your sandbox environments, navigate in Salesforce Setup:

  • In Salesforce Classic: Go to Setup > Deploy > Sandboxes 
  •  In Lightning Experience: Go to Setup > Environment > Sandboxes

 

If the Issue Persists After the Grace Period

If the sandbox is not recently created or refreshed, or if the refresh interval has already passed, and you still do not have the 'Delete' or 'Refresh' button (including the option to create a new sandbox), this could be due to an expired sandbox license. In such cases, please reach out to Salesforce Support to confirm.
