Account Engagement Emails Appear to Originate from a Domain Other Than the Configured Email Sending Domain

Date de publication: Sep 30, 2025
Description

You may notice that Account Engagement emails are showing a domain that is not yours as the original source, despite having sender information referencing your domain.

The domain would look something like this, and may be found in email headers, Gmail, email testing environments etc.

bounce.s7.exacttarget.com -or- bounce.s10.mc.pd25.com -or- bounce.j.s11.pdmailservice.com

This is expected behavior. This is known as the return-path sender or envelope sender.

All Account Engagement emails are sent via our infrastructure and, as such, will indeed be originating from our servers. Since the emails will be referencing your domain in the sender information, it is critical to ensure the email sending domain has been configured. This configuration is what provides the proof that Account Engagement's servers are allowed to send emails on behalf of your domain.

Per our 'Infrastructure and Sub-processors documentation, the feature for sending e-mail campaigns via the Account Engagement Services uses the e-mail delivery systems owned by Salesforce and branded as Marketing Cloud, ExactTarget, or PDMailService.

So long as your email sending domain is configured correctly, this will not have a negative impact on deliverability. The return-path sender information in the email's headers cannot be removed, hidden, or otherwise obscured. However, we can provide a custom name for your return-path, allowing for alignment with your email sending domain. For more on this process, please contact Support
