User with proper Library permissions cannot edit or share content

Beskrivelse

Available in: Salesforce Classic

When files are uploaded to a Library (as opposed to in Chatter Files), that Library becomes what is known as the managing library. Users with 'Add Content' access to the managing library will be able to:

  • Edit Content Detail
  • Upload New Versions
  • Archive or Delete Content
  • Move or Share the content with another Library

If the content is shared to another Library, users that have 'Add Content' permission may see unexpected behavior when they try to take any of the above actions. Clicking on the Edit button may only display the option to "Remove from Libraries".

Even when the organization has enabled the 'Files user interface allows sharing files with libraries' permission, Users will be unable to see the option to 'Move or Share the content with another Library'.
Løsning

This behavior occurs if the User has 'Add Content' access to a shared Library but not the managing Library.

To determine the managing library:

  1. Login as a User with the ability to edit the file.
  2. Navigate to the file in question
  3. Click Edit | Library Actions | Share with Another Library

The managing Library will be listed at the top of the new window. Grant the impacted user access to the managing Library to allow them to edit the content.

Note: If the content was first uploaded as Chatter Files, it may be necessary go to the Content Details Page and click Publish to Library before users other than the owner will be able to edit the content.
