Sharing with Public Groups vs. Personal Groups

Date de publication: Oct 13, 2022
Description
There are two types of Groups available for sharing purposes: Public and Personal.
Résolution
Personal Groups are intended only for the user themselves to create and manually add to any records they want shared to this specific group.

Public Groups are the standard sharing Groups Administrators can create and add to any Sharing Rule org-wide.

An important note to keep in mind is that Personal Groups can only be seen and edited by the user creating them - meaning even Administrators cannot see or edit a Personal Group created by another user.

If Personal Groups are being used, it is a best practice to train users to only include those absolutely necessary. If a larger amount of users is needed to view many records, end users should speak to their Administrators about creating and maintaining public groups instead.
