Dashboard shows different results in Classic and Lightning

Fecha de publicación: May 27, 2026
Descripción

In some instances, charts within Salesforce Classic Dashboards may show different results than the same charts within Lightning Experience Dashboards.

Example:

  • A table dashboard component that shows 3 records on the Salesforce Classic Dashboard may display only 1 record in the same Lightning Experience dashboard.
  • A vertical bar chart component that shows 7 bars on the Salesforce Classic Dashboard may display only 1 bar in the same Lightning Experience dashboard.
Solución

This behavior occurs because Lightning Experience has a 100-dimension limit on dashboard groupings. Follow the steps below to identify and resolve this limitation.

In Lightning Experience, if there are more than 100 dimensions, then:

  • Only the first 100 dimensions are drawn on the chart
  • Custom sorting set in Salesforce Classic is lost

How to Identify the Limit

To verify this is the cause, look for a small information icon (tiny blue circle) on the chart component in Lightning Experience. Hovering over it will display the message: "Showing first 100 groupings". This confirms the dashboard component is hitting the 100-dimension limit.

How to Resolve

To avoid these limitations, consider setting report filters that return 100 or fewer dimensions. As a workaround, remove a grouping (or sub-grouping) from the report or chart to reduce the overall number of groupings.
Note: At this time, this limit cannot be increased.
