If your organization has Multiple Currencies enabled, be aware of the following when you total Currency fields within any Exported Report files:
When a report contains Currency fields, the total of the amounts displayed in the source report display the converted value of the selected currency.
Excel does not convert these currencies, so it sums the values in the designated cells. As a result, the total generated in Excel is different than the total displayed on the report when multiple currencies are involved.
In the "Opportunities" report below, each Opportunity has a value of 10,000, but each has a different currency associated.
Salesforce reports are designed to account for the currencies when totaling, so they accurately show the sum as 10,083.86 USD. There is a standard field created called Amount (Converted), which displays the value of the Opportunity amount, converted to the appropriate currency. When the "Amount (Converted)" field is summarized, the total reflects the converted amount of the default currency of the chosen currency (see the "Grand Total").
Note: The "Amount" field displays the same total as the "Amount (Converted)" field. This is by design as Salesforce does not sum values from different currencies without conversion.
Source Salesforce UI Report
| OPPORTUNITY NAME | AMOUNT | AMOUNT (CONVERTED) | ACCOUNT NAME |
|---|---|---|---|
| JPY TEST | JPY 10,000 | USD 83.86 | Acme PLC |
| USD TEST | USD 10,000.00 | USD 10,000.00 | Acme PLC |
| Grand Total (2 records) | USD 10,083.86 | USD 10,083.86 |
However, when you view the exported report, the raw data will only reflect the purchased amount in the customer's currency. The conversion can only be viewed if the "Amount (Converted)" field is added to your report and summed in Excel after it has been exported.
Exported Report
| OPPORTUNITY NAME | AMOUNT CURRENCY | AMOUNT | AMOUNT (CONVERTED) CURRENCY | AMOUNT (CONVERTED) | ACCOUNT NAME |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| JPY TEST | JPY | 10,000 | USD | 83.86 | Acme PLC |
| USD TEST | USD | 10,000 | USD | 10,000.00 | Acme PLC |
| 20,000 | 10,083.86 |
To avoid this summary issue, make sure to include the Amount (Converted) field when you export reports that contain Multi-Currency fields.
