Description

When a Salesforce org has Session Settings configured with "Enable caching and autocomplete on login page" enabled, or when users save passwords in their browser, they may encounter a sign-in failure when attempting to log in to Salesforce Data Loader using the OAuth authentication option.
Salesforce Data Loader is a client application used to import, export, insert, update, upsert, and delete Salesforce records in bulk. To start Data Loader, double-click the Data Loader icon on your Desktop (Windows) or in your Applications folder (Mac).
Common symptoms include:

  • The OAuth login window opens but does not complete authentication
  • The user is redirected back to the login prompt after entering credentials
  • The browser session appears to log in, but Data Loader does not authenticate
Lösung

The following workarounds address the Data Loader OAuth sign-in failure caused by cached browser credentials or session settings.
Quick Workaround 1 — Log in via Browser First

  1. Open your web browser and sign in to your Salesforce org at login.salesforce.com.
  2. Once signed in through the browser, return to Data Loader and attempt to log in again via OAuth.

Quick Workaround 2 — Use Password Authentication in Data Loader

  1. Open Data Loader.
  2. At the login prompt, select the option to log in using your username and password instead of OAuth.

Quick Workaround 3 — Clear Browser Cache and Cookies
Clearing browser cache removes stored credentials that may conflict with the OAuth flow. Use the steps for your specific browser:

  • Troubleshoot issues with Google Chrome
  • Troubleshoot issues with Mozilla Firefox
  • Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft Edge
  • Troubleshoot issues with Safari
  • Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft Internet Explorer

Alternative Workaround — Remove Cached Username

  1. At the Data Loader login prompt, click Edit List.
  2. Remove the username you were trying to sign in with.
  3. Select Log in with a Different Username.
  4. Enter your login credentials and complete the sign-in process.
