Note: Information in this article applies to both Classic and Lightning Experience


With the following Organization Setup/Configuration: 
  • Send Through External Email Services enabled for Office 365 
    • Classic (Setup | Email Administration | Send through External Email Services)
    • Lightning (Setup | Email | Send through External Email Services)
 
  • Email Attachments setting
    • Classic: (Setup | Email Administration | Email Attachments) 
    • Lightning: (Setup | Email | Email Attachments)

"Include as attachment up to Salesforce email size limit or as links if more" 

When a user sending through Office 365 via an email action (ex: sending an email from a Contact or Lead record via Lightning Experience), with an attachment greater than 3MB, the following error is returned:

The attachment size limitation is currently a limitation of the Microsoft API which the feature utilizes.  
Lösung

Modify the Email Attachment setting to one of the following: 
  • "Always as links" 
  • "Include as attachment up to 3 MB or as links if more"
Note: Salesforce will also be looking into other methods to support larger files.  We will also be enhancing the returned response to display a more detailed message to the end user.
