How to Rename Standard Field Labels

You can update Standard field labels using the Rename Tabs and Labels feature in Salesforce Setup. This allows you to specify display names for Standard fields in any supported language.

In Salesforce Classic

1. Go to Setup > Customize > Tab Names and Labels > Rename Tabs and Labels.
2. Select the object you want to update.
3. Click Edit on the object name page (you can modify the object name here).
4. Click Next to reach the second edit page, where you can modify the record name and other Standard field labels.
5. Click Save.

In Lightning Experience

1. Click the Gear icon and go to Setup > User Interface > Rename Tabs and Labels.
2. Select the object you want to update.
3. Click Edit to modify the object name.
4. Click Next to reach the second edit page, where you can update the record name and Standard field labels.
5. Click Save.

Important Notes

• If you use the Translation Workbench, apply translation changes only to Custom Objects and Custom Fields — do not apply them to Standard Objects or Standard Fields, as this can cause conflicts.
• User language settings are configured on the User record. Users can also update this themselves via My Settings > Personal > Language & Time Zone.
