Insert or update Price Books with Data Loader

Insert Price Books via Data Loader

1. Prepare a csv file with the following columns:

• Name
• IsActive
• Description
• Any other fields necessary for the product

2. Log in to Data Loader.
3. Click Insert.
4. Select Price Book (Pricebook2).
5. Browse for your .csv file.
6. Click Next and click Ok on the pop-up.
7. Click Create or Edit a Map.
8. Map the fields listed on Step 1 appropriately.
9. Click Ok, then click Next.
10. Click Finish.

Update Price Books via Data Loader

The Data Loader can be used to update the Name, Description, and Active status of a Price Book. 

1. Export your 'Price Book (Pricebook2)' details so you have a template for the update.

Note: We recommend that you save a copy of the export to a safe location for backup purposes. 
 

2. Edit the file and retain the ID and the columns you want to update (columns needed: ID, Name, Description, IsActive).
3. Log in to Data Loader.
4. Click Update.
5. Select Price Book (Pricebook2).
6. Browse for your csv file.
7. Click Next and click Ok on the pop-up.
8. Click Create or Edit a Map.
9. Map the fields you have on Step 2 appropriately (example: ID, Name, Description, IsActive).
10. Click Ok, then click Next.
11. Click Finish.
12. On the warning pop-up, select Yes to proceed.
