Error 'Invalid related list name' when you deploy a change set

Udgivelsesdato: Jun 17, 2026
Beskrivelse

When you attempt to validate or deploy an inbound change set that contains at least one page layout, you may encounter an error message:

 'Invalid Related List Name'

Løsning

This error occurs when a change set containing a custom page layout references a Lookup or Master-Detail related list in Custom Console Components, but the underlying custom field was not added to the change set. The 'View/Add Dependencies' button does not automatically detect this dependency.

In source org, when you create a change set with custom page layout and click on “View/Add Dependencies” button, the button doesn’t automatically detect the dependencies associated with the custom Lookup or Master-Detail field.

Here's a sample test case using case object and “Custom Console Components

1.  In Case object, create custom lookup field to case object.
2.  Create custom Case page layout.
3.  Edit custom Case page layout and click on “Custom Console Components.”
4.  In “Bottom Sidebar (Interaction Log)”, add custom related list.
5.  Create an Outbound Change Set.
6.  In the “Change Set Components” click on “Add.”
7.  Select “Page Layout” and choose “Case Feed.”  Click “Add to Change Set."
8.  Click on “View/Add Dependencies."
9. The following error appears: “This change set has no dependencies."

Root cause

This is expected behavior.  Salesforce R&D has logged an enhancement to request “View/Add Dependencies” button to pickup the custom field as a dependent for custom page layouts.

Workaround

To workaround, please add manually add the Lookup or Master-Detail field to change set with the Add button.
