In prospect audits, you may occasionally notice entries with Type = Visitor Association Change, followed by a link with the name of another prospect. Usually, you will see specific types of data missing from the prospect's record.

A Visitor Association Change (also known as a VAC) happens when one prospect's visitor record and activities become associated with a different prospect. If a visitor's browser is cookied as prospect A in Account Engagement, then an email address for prospect B is used in a form submission, a VAC will be logged in both prospect's audits. This will show the association moving from prospect A to prospect B. Additionally, activity previously associated with prospect A will now be associated with prospect B.

What is affected?

A Visitor Association Change affects prospects as follows:

- Activities associated with prospect A's affected visitor record will be associated with prospect B's record (with the exception of emails; after an email is sent to one address, it will always have been sent to that address).
- Any scores associated with said activities will be subtracted from prospect A's score, while prospect B will accumulate any score points from prospect A's activities. This also includes any score adjustments from those activities' completion actions.
- Prospect A's personal data will remain intact, while prospect B will have a new identity
- Prospect A will show as never being active

If a user is testing forms or submitting on behalf of prospects and needs to use different email addresses, they will have to clear their browser's cookies before each new submission. For more on form testing, please view our documentation:
▸▸ Testing Forms

If a form is going to be filled out by multiple people using the same computer or device, such as at a trade show, you can enable "Kiosk Mode" in the form so that it will not set cookies upon submission.
▸▸ Account Engagement Forms - Kiosk Mode

Enable the “Not you?” link to allow visitors to refresh a form that’s been forwarded to them from another prospect. You can enable this option when editing or creating your form: it's available on the Advanced tab of the Look and Feel step of the Form Wizard.
If a Visitor Association Change does occur, it can be removed manually from the prospect record.

To remove a Visitor Association Change:

1) Navigate to the affected prospect record.
2) In the prospect record, click Audits.
3) Find the row with Visitor Association Changed in the Type column.
4) Click the visitor ID (it's a string of numbers. for example, 200.10.000.123).
5) Click (Remove Association) under the prospect name.
6) If possible, the person who triggered the change should clear their browser's cookies
