Population of the Discount Schedule field on quote lines in Salesforce CPQ

The lookup to a Discount Schedule exists on 5 different objects in Salesforce CPQ as related to Quote Lines. Only a single Discount Schedule is applied to any given Quote Line even if multiple related objects point to different discount schedules. The information below describes how CPQ selects the discount schedule to use on a Quote Line in this scenario:

The SBQQ__DiscountSchedule__c field on the Quote Line is populated in accordance with the following hierarchy:
  1. Contracted Price
  2. Price Dimension (MDQ)
  3. Product Option
  4. Product Feature
  5. Product 

The order for these objects and the priority follows the numbering. For example, should the Discount Schedule lookup be populated on both the Product Option (#3) and the Contracted Price (#1), the lookup on the Contracted Price takes precedence and be applied to Quote Line. 

For instances requiring more versatility, a Price Rule can also be used to populate the Discount Schedule lookup field on the Quote Line.
