Marketing Cloud Engagement Reply Email Address contains long, unknown string

Fecha de publicación: Feb 11, 2026
Descripción

Reply Email Addresses may contain a long, unknown string similar to <reply-QA7PDIGUZN2UBPG3NCRJ738GVU.20796@[yoursubdomain].com>.

The long string is the email reply string that is auto-generated when a user hits reply. Although the long string appears random, this is‌ by design, as those 'random' numbers and letters are‌ maps for the Reply Mail Management system to follow to go to the RMM servers and then follow the RMM rules, and then forward to the correct email address that is written in the forward remaining replies. This is functioning as designed.

Solución

Reply Mail Management (RMM) creates these strings to encode the information that RMM needs to route the reply to the desired location.

Additionally, you can bypass this by using the "Use direct forwards" option in the "Custom Reply Mail Management Settings" section of a Sender Profile. With that option checked, the system will use the From address associated with the send as the Reply address.
