When creating a record in Lightning Experience, users may notice that the cursor or screen reader focus lands on a Help Text icon (the small 'i' information icon) rather than the first input field. This occurs when the first field on the page layout includes Help Text. For example, if the Name field on a New Contact form has Help Text configured, clicking 'New' will place focus on the Help Text icon rather than the Name field itself.
This is expected behavior as the record layout focuses on the first element of the layout. In this case, the Help Text icon is the first element that can be focused on, and it is located on the first field.
A new page layout will need to be created where the first element added does not contain Help Text. It is not possible to adjust the current page layout once that first element has been added.
To avoid this behavior, create a new page layout where the first field does not have Help Text configured. For example, place a field without Help Text (such as a plain text field) as the first element.
Note: It is not possible to edit an existing layout to remove Help Text from the first field after it has been added. A new layout must be created.
