Account Engagement Emails Are Going to the Promotions Tab in Gmail

Account Engagement or Marketing Cloud has no control over the placement of emails in Gmail. Gmail has its own way of classifying emails based on algorithms. Only a subscriber can move your emails from the Promotions tab to the Primary tab. We can, however, give you a bit more information about it.

About Gmail's Promotion Tab
Gmail’s Promotions tab is used for marketing emails and promotional offers. However, some studies show that the tabs improved Email Deliverability as well as improved open rates and decreased spam complaints. This situation doesn’t affect all your Gmail subscribers as the tabs are optional for Gmail users.
 
Email deliverability best practices
As usual, the best way to ensure inbox placement is maintaining a healthy mailing list of prospects actively interested in your emails. Here are a few tips to achieve good database hygiene. A good list of prospects makes it more likely that they move your emails to the Primary Tab.
You can also encourage your prospects to add your sending email address to their contact lists, ensuring your emails go straight to their Primary Tab.

It's possible to see higher volumes of unsubscribes from prospects using Gmail. Google supports the list-unsubscribe header. When the Gmail unsubscribe link is clicked, the HTTP method used by Account Engagement results in Gmail linking you to the sender's unsubscribe page where you can finish submitting your unsubscribe request.
