Users may report that they're able to follow a Topic in Classic but when they view the same Topic in Lightning Experience, the 'Follow' button is not available.
For example, a Community Manager may want users to follow trending product topics to stay informed. Users can follow topics in Salesforce Classic but report the Follow button is missing when viewing the same topic in Lightning Experience.
In order to see the button or ability to follow a Topic in Lightning Experience, an administrator must enable 'Chatter Feed Tracking' for the Topic object.
1. From Setup, in the 'Quick Find' field search for Feed Tracking.
2. Select Feed Tracking.
3. Select the Topic object.
4. Select Enable Feed Tracking.
5. Click Save.
See Customize Chatter Feed Tracking for more details.
