Salesforce CPQ performance of quote document generation

Performance when generating quote documents in Salesforce CPQ may appear slower at times. Below are common examples which can influence the performance of this process:

  1. Queue time
    1. The quote document generation process is queued. Therefore, the document can remain in queued status for a prolonged period prior to document processing.
    2. This can be validated by navigating to the Javascript console on the web browser. The console will indicate either "Document Generator - Queued" if the document is queued or "Document Generator - Processing” if it is being generated
    3. If the document remains in “queued” status for a prolonged period of time on multiple requests, check to see if there are server issues with Heroku. If there are no issues with Heroku, a case can be logged with SFDC to report performance issues on your instance.
  2. Template content
    1. Perform the steps in the Quote Template Troubleshooting Article and evaluate if particular sections cause a steep change in performance. The Quote Template may need a reduction in size. A large number of image files (or a few large images) will increase processing time. Using compressed image formats (e.g. JPEG and PNG) can reduce your file size and have a positive impact on processing time.

    1. A larger number of quote lines and quote line groups can impact performance
