Filter By Owner not available while creating List View on custom object

게시 일자: May 6, 2026
상세 설명

In Salesforce, when creating or editing List Views on custom objects, the "Filter By Owner" option may not appear. This occurs specifically when the custom object is a second-level detail (grandchild) object in a three-level master-detail relationship.

For some custom object list views, the Filter By Owner option may not be available.
In Classic, the Filter By Owner option is missing entirely.
In Lightning, choosing the "My <objects>" filter will automatically change to the "All <objects>" filter.

Example: Three-Level Master-Detail Relationship

  • Master Object A
    • Child Object B
      • Grandchild Object C

In this example, Child Object B would have a Filter By Owner option available for list views, but Grandchild Object C would not.

솔루션

To work around the missing Filter By Owner option, create a formula field that returns the Owner from the top-most master object in the relationship. This formula field can then be used as filter criteria in the grandchild object's list view.

For the above example, such a formula field would return the Owner of Master Object A, which could then be used in a list view filter for Grandchild Object C.
