Visualforce Page Sections: Visibility Behavior in New, Edit, and Clone Page Layouts (Lightning Experience and Classic)

Date de publication: Jun 10, 2026
Description

In Salesforce, the visibility of inline Visualforce (VF) page sections and inline formula fields on page layouts differs depending on the record action (New, Edit, Clone) and the user interface (Lightning Experience or Salesforce Classic).
Behavior Summary:

  • In Lightning Experience: Inline VF pages and formula fields are visible in Edit and Clone page layouts by default. Inline VF pages and formula fields are NOT visible in New or Create page layouts.
  • In Salesforce Classic: Inline VF page sections are NOT visible in New, Edit, or Clone page layouts.

Known Platform Behavior (Not Configurable)

This is by design. There is no native way to display inline Visualforce page sections on the New record page layout in Lightning Experience, or on New, Edit, and Clone page layouts in Salesforce Classic. This limitation applies to inline VF pages and inline VF page sections.

Alternative Approaches

If your business requires Visualforce content to appear in contexts not supported by default, consider the following alternatives:

  1. Lightning Web Components (LWC) with Quick Actions or Record Pages: Use LWC with the lightning__RecordAction or lightning__RecordPage target types to display custom content on New record forms and Edit pages in Lightning Experience.
  2. Screen Flows on Record Pages: Use Screen Flows embedded on a Record Page Lightning component to show dynamic content on New and Edit pages.
  3. Contact Salesforce Support: If neither alternative meets your business requirements, contact Salesforce Support with your full business use case for further guidance.
