Users may encounter the following error when converting a Lead:
“We can't convert this lead because some values are restricted on the contact, account, or opportunity. Ask your admin to check the field mappings.”
This typically happens when a picklist field on the Lead is mapped to a restricted picklist field on Account, Contact, or Opportunity, and the value on the Lead does not exist in the target field.
The “Restrict picklist to the values defined in the value set” setting enforces that only predefined values can be used. If the values don’t match between mapped fields, lead conversion fails.
Note: Temporarily disabling the Restrict picklist setting can help isolate the issue. However, this is not possible for global picklists, as the restriction cannot be disabled.
Lead conversion relies on field mappings and matching picklist values between Lead and target objects (Account, Contact, Opportunity). Any mismatch—especially with restricted picklists or record types—can cause this error.
