Delete a Salesforce Sandbox

Date de publication: Sep 30, 2025
Description

Deleting a sandbox will completely delete your sandbox and all its contents. A sandbox can only be deleted if its refresh interval has passed. If you do not see the delete option, you will need to wait until the refresh interval has passed in order to delete the sandbox.

Sandbox type refresh intervals:

Developer Sandbox: 1 day
Developer Pro Sandbox: 1 day
Partial Data Sandbox: 5 days
Full Copy Sandbox: 29 days

There are two ways to delete a sandbox (test) organization.

Notes:

  • Once a sandbox is deleted, the sandbox org is permanently lost. This action is final and cannot be undone. Ensure that you have thoroughly reviewed and backed up any necessary data before proceeding with deletion.
  • When you delete a sandbox the name is not always immediately released to be reused again. If you plan to reuse the sandbox name shortly after deletion we recommend you perform a refresh to prevent possible duplicate sandbox or username issues, these will clear themselves up typically within 24 hours after deletion. Remember, a sandbox can only be deleted if its refresh interval has passed. If you do not see the delete option, you will need to wait until the refresh interval has passed in order to delete the sandbox.
