Salesforce for Outlook (SFO) Does Not Recognize Outlook Profile or Cannot Synchronize After Outlook Profile Change

Veröffentlichungsdatum: May 1, 2026
Beschreibung

If a user's Microsoft Outlook profile is accidentally removed, or if a user has more than one Outlook profile and switches between them, Salesforce for Outlook (SFO) may display the following errors when the application launches:

  • "Salesforce for Outlook does not recognize your Outlook profile."
  • "Salesforce for Outlook cannot synchronize, because you use a profile Outlook which is not yet configured for the Synchronization."
  • "Salesforce for Outlook can't sync because you're using an Outlook profile that's not set up for syncing. Instead, open Outlook using the profile named Outlook."

CAUSE:

Salesforce for Outlook (SFO) is linked to a specific Outlook profile at the time of initial configuration. When you change your Outlook profile, remove it, or run Outlook as Administrator, SFO loses its connection to that profile and can no longer synchronize.

Lösung

When Salesforce for Outlook is linked to a specific Outlook profile, changing or removing that profile causes SFO to lose its connection. The steps below explain how to reconfigure SFO to restore the connection.

Steps to Reconfigure Salesforce for Outlook

  1. Right-click the Salesforce for Outlook system tray icon at the bottom-right corner of your screen.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click the Change Username button.
  4. Re-enter your Salesforce credentials and complete the setup wizard.

Note

Do not rename the Salesforce for Outlook sync database file or the DB folder containing it. Always use the steps above to reset the sync first.

If Sync Is Disabled (Side Panel or Add Email Only)

If sync is turned off and you only have the Side Panel or Add Email button enabled, follow these additional steps to reset the database:
a. Exit Salesforce for Outlook completely.
b. Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run command box.
c. Type: %appdata%\Salesforce.com\Salesforce for Outlook and press Enter.
d. Right-click the DB folder and click Rename (add any character to the name).
e. Relaunch Salesforce for Outlook.

Note

Salesforce does not recommend syncing to two different Outlook profiles simultaneously.
