Unable to shorten, edit, or change Email Service Addresses

Description

Email service addresses are those long email addresses automatically generated in Email-to-Case, Email-to-Salesforce, Apex classes, etc.

They are the gateway for incoming emails into Salesforce and some administrators would like to find a way to shorten them, or otherwise change them to conform to specific requirements on their email server.

Résolution

Email service addresses are read-only automatically generated unique addresses and cannot be altered or customized. At present, Salesforce users have no control over the logic used to generate these addresses. 

The process that generates these addresses ensures they are unique and so it's not possible to manually make any changes.
