A Salesforce administrator using Email-to-Case notices that the auto-generated email service address is very long (for example: casemgmt=sfdc.com@to.salesforce.com). The administrator wants to shorten this address to meet their email server's filter rules or to use a custom domain name. This article explains why this is not possible and what options exist.
Email service addresses are read-only and automatically generated by Salesforce. Salesforce users have no control over the logic used to generate these addresses.
The generation process is designed to guarantee that each email service address is globally unique. Because of this uniqueness requirement, manual edits, shortening, or any form of customization is not currently supported.
This is expected behavior. Email service addresses are system-generated identifiers and function similarly to a Salesforce record ID — they are unique, immutable, and managed entirely by the Salesforce platform.
