When you attempt to install the Salesforce Field Service (FS) managed package, you may encounter two error messages related to feature dependencies in the package.
This error appears when Field Service has not yet been enabled in the organization. The error message looks like this:
Organization: Company Name (00DXXXXXXXXXXXX) User: User Name (005XXXXXXXXXXXX) Package: FS (04tXXXXXXXXXXXX)
Problem: 1. Missing Organization Feature: WorkOrder
This error appears when the Service Appointment object does not exist in the org, which can occur in Developer Organizations created before Spring '17. The error message looks like this:
Organization: Company Name (00DXXXXXXXXXXXX) User: User Name (005XXXXXXXXXXXX) Package: FS (04tXXXXXXXXXXXX)
This error is often followed by several other cascading error messages.
This error occurs when Salesforce Field Service (FS) has not been enabled in the organization. Field Service is a separate feature that must be activated in Setup before the managed package can be installed.
To enable Field Service:
After enabling Field Service, retry the package installation.
If you encountered Error 1 and noticed that Field Service Settings prompted you to enable Work Orders rather than Field Service Settings, you may encounter Error 2 when you retry the installation.
This error occurs due to a known limitation in Developer Organizations created before Spring '17. The Service Appointment sObject does not exist in those older orgs, making the package installation impossible.
Workaround: Create a new Developer Organization and install the Field Service package in the new org. Developer orgs created after Spring '17 include the Service Appointment object and do not have this limitation.
