SharePoint Files Connect external objects do not return custom metadata for JPG, PNG, or GIF files

Publiseringsdato: Oct 13, 2022
Beskrivelse
  • Configure Files Connect in Salesforce Org; ex: Share Point
  • Create an External Object & External Fields and map it to the appropriate fields in the External Source; ex: Share Point.
  • Create a Parent-Child relationship between the External Object and any other object in Salesforce
  • Add the "External Object" as the "Related List" with appropriate fields (make sure to add the File Extension/Metadata field as a column; see the below screenshot) in the Parent Objects Page Layout.
  • Notice, that the Metadata for media files are not displayed where as the Metadata for other supported files (like .xlxs, .doc, etc.,) are displayed.

Løsning

As of now Files Connect doesn't support the Metadata for the media files like .JPG, .PNG, .GIF, .MP4, etc., Sharepoint does not index binary flies (media like images, videos, etc) hence files connect cannot get properties of that during External Object Search. However if the External Object Custom property is mapped to Sharepoint internal column names/aliases, those properties can be retrieved.
