Salesforce retired the original Territory Management module with the Summer ’21 release. At Salesforce, customer success is our top priority, and as such, we recommend that customers migrate their users to Enterprise Territory Management.
Why did Salesforce retire the original Territory Management module?
We’re focusing our developmental efforts on the Enterprise Territory Management functionality to improve performance and efficiency. Enterprise Territory Management builds upon these efforts to ensure the best experience possible for our customers.
How did this change impact my org?
After the retirement date, your users will no longer be able to access their original Territory Management data via the UI or API.
All users associated with the territory can be impacted in their access control, visibility, and functionality. Users with the Manage Territories permission will no longer be able to access Setup pages for original Territory Management. They will only have access to Setup pages for Enterprise Territory Management instead.
What action did I need to take, and was there a replacement for this feature?
We strongly recommend that you and your users migrate to the Enterprise Territory Management module. To preserve all Share records for Accounts, Opportunities, Contacts, and Cases generated through territory rule execution, we advise you to export your territory and assignment data out of the original Territory Management module using the Data Export service before the Summer ’21 release. For more information on setting up Enterprise Territory Management, you can refer to the Enterprise Territory Management Implementation Guide and the Territory Management trail.
This replacement will cover all the major functional requirements of the original Territory Management and includes additional capabilities. You can refer to the following comparison (Trailblazer Community login required) of the original Territory Management and Enterprise Territory Management modules for additional information.
If you used Customizable Forecasting (retired as of Summer 20), we also encourage you to migrate to Collaborative Forecasts.
