When a user opens the Salesforce for Outlook side panel in Microsoft Outlook, the panel loads but does not connect to Salesforce. The user may see a spinning icon or the error message: "You're not connected to Salesforce." This issue is typically caused by Internet Explorer (IE) compatibility mode being enforced by a Microsoft Office update, which forces Outlook to use IE10 instead of IE11 — overriding any browser emulation setting previously configured to IE11.
Note: Internet Explorer has reached end-of-life. If your organization is still using Salesforce for Outlook with an IE dependency, consider reviewing the current system requirements. For newer Outlook integrations, see the Salesforce Outlook Integration documentation.
To resolve the "You're not connected to Salesforce" error caused by Internet Explorer compatibility mode, follow these steps:
If the issue persists after these steps, work with your IT team to review Group Policy settings that may be enforcing IE10 compatibility across the organization.
