CPQ Error 'Insufficient Privileges' on Quote Document save in Classic UI

Fecha de publicación: Nov 25, 2025
Descripción
On the Generate Document visualforce page, actions that create a quote document record (i.e. save, save & email, send with docusign) result in the following error:
"Insufficient Privileges
You do not have the level of access necessary to perform the operation you requested. Please contact the owner of the record or your administrator if access is necessary. For more information, see Insufficient Privileges Errors. "

Another error message is "You do not have insert access on object Quote Document. Please contact your administrator."

The root cause of this error is Document folder sharing settings.  Salesforce is not able to add a new PDF or Word document to the Documents folder.  Debug logs may show the following details:
"Queueable Failed Insert failed. First exception on row 0; first error: INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS_ON_CROSS_REFERENCE_ENTITY, insufficient access rights on cross-reference id: [] 0 0 0 [user last name], [user fist name] QueueableQuoteDocumentService"
Solución

This issue occurs because the Document's folder is not accessible to the user saving the Quote Document record.  Follow these steps to resolve the error:

  1. Navigate to Setup > Installed Packages > Configure Salesforce CPQ
  2. Click the Documents tab
  3. Note the label for the Document Folder
  4. Click All Tabs (+ icon), navigate to the Documents tab
  5. Under Document Folders, click the Folder picklist and select the label for the Folder specified in the installed package settings
  6. Click Edit
  7. Public Folder Access can be specified as Read/Write or Read depending on your preferences.
  8. Ensure that the folder is accessible by all users or is accessible by a group that the impacted user resides in.

Note: This is for Salesforce Classic UI only.
