When a Task or Event is created in Salesforce Classic using the Save & New button, the Subject field does not populate with the default picklist value. Instead, the Subject field retains the value from the previously saved Task or Event, which is the same behavior as the Clone function in Lightning Experience.
This is expected behavior in Salesforce Classic and is not a bug.
The Save & New button in Salesforce Classic works similarly to the Clone button in Lightning Experience. Rather than resetting the Subject field to its default picklist value, the system carries forward the Subject from the most recently saved Task or Event.
For example, if you create a Task with Subject set to "Follow-up Call" and then click Save & New, the new Task's Subject field will display "Follow-up Call" instead of the default picklist value (such as "Call").
