Enhanced Email With Outlook Integration and Gmail Integration

Veröffentlichungsdatum: Jul 21, 2026
Beschreibung

When you Set Up Enhanced Email with Outlook Integration or Gmail Integration, emails from Outlook or Gmail are added to Salesforce records as Email Message objects, not as Tasks. This is by design to meet compliance regulations around the authenticity of emails.
Enhanced Email is the feature that converts synced emails into EmailMessage records in Salesforce. This differs from the older Task-based model where logged emails appeared as Activity Tasks.
Key behaviors when Enhanced Email is enabled with Outlook or Gmail Integration:

  • Emails can only be added to Contacts and Leads records whose email addresses appear in the To, CC, or From fields of the original email.
  • In Outlook and OWA, users cannot search for and relate emails to Contacts and Leads who are not included in the email.
  • Users can add emails to Opportunities, Accounts, and custom objects.
  • Unlike Tasks, emails added as Email Message objects cannot be edited in Salesforce.
  • When adding emails using the Email Message object, users can only add the email from the specific Lead or Contact record displayed in the Outlook or Gmail integration panel. Only People records (Contacts or Leads) listed in the To, CC, or From fields are eligible.
