Chinese characters get omitted from email attachment names

Notes: 
  • A recipient receives an email attachment sent using the 'Send an Email' button from a record with the Chinese characters not displaying. 
  • For example, if the attachment name is '卖家手册Seller Guide,' the attachment name recipient receives is 'Seller Guide.' The '卖家手册' part is removed.

Change the email encoding setting in Salesforce Classic


Enhanced Setup Menu
 

  1. Click on Your Name My Settings.
  2. Click Personal | Personal Information.
  3. Click Advanced User Details.
  4. Click on Edit and locate the Email encoding field.
  5. Change the value to Unicode (UTF-8).
  6. Click Save.

Non-Enhanced Setup Menu
 
  1. Click on Your Name | Setup. 
  2. Under Personal Setup expand My Personal Information and click on Personal Information. 
  3. Click on Edit and locate the Email encoding field.
  4. Change the value to Unicode (UTF-8.)
  5. Click Save.


Change the email encoding setting in Lightning Experience

  1. Click your Profile Picture on the top right side.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Advanced User Details.
  4. Click on Edit.
  5. Scroll down and change the Email Encoding to Unicode (UTF-8.)
  6. Click on Save.

The characters in the attachment should appear correctly after making these changes.
