Use of 'MasterRecordId' field when Users export or query records

Publiceringsdatum: Oct 13, 2022
Beskrivning
When performing a query or export a record from an API tool, a field called MasterRecordId appears -- however this field is not visible when viewed on the object's list of fields. The MasterRecordId' field is sometimes populated with a record ID but is sometimes empty.
Lösning

The MasterRecordId field is populated when Users performed a record merge (Lead, Account, and Contact) and it is available via the API. When two records are merged, the losing record will be deleted and its MasterRecordId will be populated with the ID of the winning record.

1. Take for example the following records:

Account 1: SFDC Test 1
Record Id of account 1: 0013D00000ZUufQQAT

Account 2: SFDC test 2
Record Id of account 2: 0013D00000ZB5ekQAD

2. Merge these two records and choose 'SFDC Test 1' as the master record.

Because of the steps above, SFDC test 2 will be deleted and if exported via Data Loader using Export All, the value of '\MasterRecordId will be equal to 0013D00000ZUufQQAT.
