Users may encounter an 'Entity is deleted' error message when they attempt to insert records into the QuoteLineItem object using Salesforce Data Loader.


This error occurs when at least one record in the import file references a deleted record in the organization, causing the entire batch to fail with the 'Entity is deleted' error — even for records that are otherwise valid.

Résolution

The following steps explain how to identify the specific deleted record causing the error and how to resolve it.
When records are inserted in bulk using Salesforce Data Loader, the entire batch is flagged as 'Entity is deleted,' making it difficult to determine which individual record is causing the error.

Set the Batch Size of Data Loader to 1

By setting the batch size to 1, Salesforce Data Loader processes each record individually. It fails only for the problematic record and continues processing the remaining records without issue.

  1. Open Salesforce Data Loader and go to Settings
  2. Change Batch Size to 1
  3. Click OK
  4. Re-run the import — Data Loader will fail on the specific record referencing the deleted entity and succeed on all others.

Next Steps After Identifying the Record

Once the record causing the error is identified in the failed results, choose one of the following options:

    • Modify the CSV import file to reference a different, active record. — OR —
    • Recover the deleted record in the Salesforce org (if appropriate).
