Add Connected App to App Launcher in Salesforce

Veröffentlichungsdatum: May 30, 2026
Beschreibung

For a Connected App to be visible in the Salesforce App Launcher, three conditions must be met: the app must have a Start URL defined on the Manage Connected App page, the user must be authorized to access the app, and the app must be marked as "Visible in App Launcher" in the App Menu setup page. This article explains how to control Connected App visibility and restrict access using OAuth policies, profiles, and permission sets.

Lösung

Prerequisites

Before configuring App Launcher visibility, confirm the following:

  • The Connected App is already created and has a Start URL configured.
  • You have System Administrator access to the Salesforce org.

How to Make a Connected App Visible in the App Launcher

To make a Connected App visible in the App Launcher:

  1. Navigate to Setup > App Manager and locate the Connected App.
  2. Click Manage next to the app.
  3. Confirm a Start URL is defined. Without this, the app will not appear in the App Launcher.
  4. Go to Setup > App Menu and ensure the app is marked as Visible in App Launcher.

How to Control Visibility by Profile or Permission Set

By default, when the OAuth (Open Authorization) policy is set to "All users may self-authorize", the Connected App is visible to all users and cannot be restricted by profile or permission set.
To control visibility:

  1. On the Manage Connected App page, change the OAuth policy to "Admin-approved users are pre-authorized".
  2. Specify which profiles or permission sets are authorized to see and use the app.
  3. Alternatively, you can remove the Start URL from the app or hide it from the App Launcher on the App Menu setup page.
