CRM Analytics Error: 'OPERATION_TOO_LARGE: exceeded 100000 distinct ids' When Syncing FeedItem or FeedComment with Unlisted Groups Enabled

If your organization has the Unlisted Groups feature enabled and you attempt to extract the FeedItem or FeedComment objects in CRM Analytics, the following error may be encountered if there are more than 100,000 records for either object:

"Something went wrong while executing the Replication_FeedComment node: OPERATION_TOO_LARGE: exceeded 100000 distinct ids"

This occurs due to the additional query complexity that is added when an organization has the Unlisted Groups feature, due to the additional access checks needed for the user extracting the records (i.e. the Integration User).
Ratkaisu

Since the Integration User cannot be assigned the "Manage Unlisted Groups" permission, one workaround for this limitation is to extract the FeedItem/FeedComment objects via a remote connection in Replication that points to the local organization. By specifying a user that has the "Manage Unlisted Groups" permission in the connection settings, this causes the objects to be extracted as that user and bypass the query limit and Integration User restrictions.

To implement this workaround, follow the below steps.

Add the Remote Connection to the local organization:

1. Enable Data Sync and Connections if it is not already enabled. This is a requirement for the workaround.
2. Navigate to Analytics Studio and go to Data Manager
3. Click Connect in the left menu
4. Click New Connection
5. Choose Salesforce External Connector
6. Choose a name for the connection (e.g. "Remote Connection to Local Org")
7. Choose a developer name and description for the connection
8. Enter the username and password for a user in the local organization that has the Manage Unlisted Groups permission assigned
9. If using a sandbox, change the Service URL to use the "test.salesforce.com" domain instead of "login.salesforce.com"
10. Click Save
 

Add the FeedComment or FeedItem to the new connection:

1. Click on the new connection you just created
2. Click on the FeedItem or FeedComment objects as needed, then click Continue
3. Select the fields to include and click Continue
4. Preview the data and click Save
 

Run Replication for the new connection:

1. Scroll down to the new connection and open the menu for the FeedComment or FeedItem object you added
2. Click Run Data Sync
3. Click on Jobs Monitor in the left panel and verify that the object was successfully extracted


Once the object has been extracted via the new remote connection you added, it can then be referenced in dataflows to populate datasets.
