Account Engagement Form pre-populated with someone else's information

Data pubblicazione: Sep 30, 2025
Descrizione
When an email is sent to a known prospect (prospect A), the links therein are tracked to that specific prospect. If the email is forwarded to someone else (prospect B), and that person clicks a link, they see prospect's A's information in the form.

- If prospect A forwards that email, then all links in the email are written to track that prospect's activities.
- When prospect B clicks a link that has been tracked for prospect A, the tracking enabled by the link thinks that prospect A is viewing the form.
- Therefore, the form is populated with prospect A's information.
- If prospect B corrects the pre-filled email address and submits the form, Account Engagement creates a new prospect record rather than overwriting prospect A.

This situation can also result in a Visitor Association Change.

    Risoluzione

Some steps to prevent this situation:

    1. Always include the “Not You” link in your forms. You can enable this setting in the form editor by navigating to the “Look and Feel” step and selecting the Advanced tab.
    2. Set your forms to Kiosk/Data Entry mode on forms that are more prone to this kind of activity. For more on Kiosk mode, you can refer to our documentation
    3. Never click a link that has been sent through an Account Engagement email unless that link was rewritten for you.

If you notice this situation is already happening:

    1. Clear your cookies so you’re no longer tracked as another prospect.
    2. Submit a new form on your site to be appropriately 'cookied' as yourself again.
