Load the 'Salesforce for Outlook' Side Panel in a Browser Window

Fecha de publicación: Jun 2, 2026
Descripción

When the Salesforce for Outlook (SFO) Side Panel does not load in Outlook, or does not display record information for emails you click, you can load the Side Panel content directly in a web browser for troubleshooting purposes. This approach helps you determine whether the issue is related to Outlook or to the Salesforce for Outlook installation itself.
Important: Salesforce for Outlook has been retired. See Salesforce for Outlook Retirement for information on migrating to the next-generation Outlook integration.

How to Load the Salesforce for Outlook Side Panel in a Browser

To view the Side Panel content in a browser, use the following URL pattern and replace the instance placeholder with your own Salesforce instance or custom domain:
<REDACTED>[yourinstance].salesforce.com/clients/sidepanel/sidepanelcontainer.apexp?
Example: https://na6.salesforce.com/clients/sidepanel/sidepanelcontainer.apexp?
To find your instance URL: In your browser address bar, copy everything up to and including the ".com/" portion of the URL.

How to Display Record Information in the Browser

To display record information for a specific contact or lead, append the emailIds parameter to the URL:
<REDACTED>[yourinstance].salesforce.com/clients/sidepanel/sidepanelcontainer.apexp?emailIds=[contact-email-address]
Example: https://na6.salesforce.com/clients/sidepanel/sidepanelcontainer.apexp?emailIds=john.doe@abc.com
Replace john.doe@abc.com with the email address associated with the contact or lead record in your org.

How to Interpret the Results

Compare what you see in the browser with what appears in the Outlook side panel:

  • If the record information displays correctly in the browser but not in Outlook, the issue is likely related to the Salesforce for Outlook installation or Outlook security settings such as macro policies.
  • If the record information does not display in either location, the issue may be related to Salesforce configuration or data.
