On Windows 10 Surface Pro tablets and laptops with smaller LCD screens (13 inches or under), Salesforce for Outlook (SFO) may experience display and connectivity issues when the device's touch-mode or display scaling settings are not configured correctly.
Users on Windows 10 Surface Pro tablets or small-screen laptops (13 inches or under) may experience:
One indicator that touch mode may be causing the issue is the Email bar visible on the right side of the Outlook screen. Touch-screen laptops or tablets with smaller screens may have this enabled by default.
For more information on Touch Mode in Outlook, see Turn Touch Mode on or off from Microsoft.
To resolve display issues on Surface Pro or small-screen laptops, disable the display scaling override for Salesforce for Outlook using the Windows Program Compatibility Troubleshooter.
Make sure SFO is not running in the System Tray. If it is running, right-click the SFO icon in the tray and click Exit. Close Microsoft Outlook and all other programs.
Click the search box on the Taskbar and type Run programs made for previous versions of Windows, then click it in the search results.
In the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter, select Next. The troubleshooter takes a few seconds to detect issues.
On the Select the program you're having problems with page, scroll down and select Salesforce for Outlook, then select Next.
Note: If Salesforce for Outlook does not appear in the list, download and install it first, then restart these steps. If multiple instances are listed, hover to verify the path matches one of: C:\Program Files\salesforce.com\Salesforce for Outlook, C:\Program Files (x86)\salesforce.com\Salesforce for Outlook, or C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Programs\salesforce.com\Salesforce for Outlook.
Select Troubleshoot program. On the next page under What problems do you notice?, check the box for The program opens but doesn't display correctly, then select Next.
Select Program does not display properly when large-scale font settings are selected, then select Next.
Select Test the Program to open SFO with the new settings. If SFO works correctly, select Next and save the settings. If the issue persists, select Cancel.
