If you have a Windows 10 Surface Pro tablet and you install Salesforce for Outlook, you may experience a few problems if your tablet settings are not configured properly.

SFO wizard gets stuck on retrieving your configuration page
- Side Panel may not load correctly in Outlook or may not load at all
- Some connectivity issues with Microsoft Outlook. The Next button may be unavailable in the SFO wizard



* One indicator could be the Email bar on the right side of the Outlook screen. Usually, touch screen laptops or tablets with a smaller screen may have this on by default. More information on this feature by Microsoft here

Solution: Disable Display Scaling for the App

You can disable display scaling for an individual desktop app in Windows 10. Here’s how:


Step 1: Make sure SFO is not running in the System tray, if it is, right-click it and click Exit. It's recommended to close Outlook and all other programs as well.

Step 2: Click the search box on the ​Taskbar and type in ​​Run programs made for previous versions of Windows and click it in the search results. 


Step 3: In the ​​Program Compatibility Troubleshooter, select ​​Next. This starts detecting issues. It takes a few seconds. 

Step 4: Next, on the Select the program you're having problems with page, scroll down and select Salesforce for Outlook program from the list, and then select Next

 
*Note
If you do not see the Salesforce for Outlook app on the list, you may need to download and install it first then start over.

If you have more than one instance of the Salesforce for Outlook program, hover your mouse on each and make sure the path is pointing to the location that you have SFO installed.

It should be one of the following paths, if you have more than one of these paths you may have a problematic installation and have the application installed incorrectly.

Path:
C:\Program Files\salesforce.com\Salesforce for Outlook 
C:\Program Files (x86)\salesforce.com\Salesforce for Outlook 
C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Programs\salesforce.com\Salesforce for Outlook

Step 5: Select Troubleshoot program, and on the next page under What problems do you notice? check the box for T​he program opens but doesn’t display correctly, and then select Next

Step 6: Select ​​Program does not display properly when large-scale font settings are selected, and then select ​​Next

Step 7: Select Test the Program to open the app with the new settings. If it works, select Next and save the settings. Otherwise, select Cancel
