Issue
When using Salesforce for Outlook (SFO) on a Windows 10 machine, opening Outlook Today shows blank content under section headings such as Calendar, Tasks, and Messages. The headings appear but no data is displayed beneath them.
Note: This issue has been observed on Windows 10 machines only.
Cause
According to Microsoft, this issue occurs when the OUTLOOK.exe value in the following Windows registry path is set to a specific hex value.
Registry path:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE or HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION\
Affected registry values for OUTLOOK.exe:
00002AF900002AF8When OUTLOOK.exe is configured with either of these values, the browser emulation mode used by Outlook Today fails to render content under the section headings.
This article explains the known limitation with the Microsoft workaround for the Outlook Today display issue and its impact on Salesforce for Outlook (SFO).
Why the standard Microsoft workaround does not apply to Salesforce for Outlook users
Microsoft's standard fix for this issue involves renaming or deleting the OUTLOOK.exe value in the FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION registry key. While this resolves the Outlook Today blank section heading display, it breaks Salesforce for Outlook because SFO depends on this registry entry to function correctly.
What you should do
At this time, there is no workaround that resolves both the Outlook Today display issue and maintains full Salesforce for Outlook functionality simultaneously.
