ISSUE

User may see the notification message below during the SFO wizard even with an active Outlook configuration in their org
 
You don't have permission to sync with Salesforce. Contact your administrator for permission​
REASON/ROOT CAUSE
 
If Sync is not enabled in the Outlook Configuration for the user, user may experience this issue but this issue is most probably related to having Encryption Platform enabled in the Salesforce org. If Platform Encryption is enabled in the org then the “View Encrypted Data” option MUST be enabled for the user's profile for them to be able to use SFO successfully.
 

 

 
Solución

1- Right click on your Salesforce for Outlook system tray icon and click on Exit
2- Login to your Salesforce org as administrator and make sure the user experiencing this issue has an active and valid Outlook Configuration assigned to them
3- You can verify this simply by locating the affected user's profile and check for the permission View Encrypted Data​

Depending on your org settings these steps may vary, if you got to Setup and search Profiles and select a profile here locate the for the Permission "View Encrypted Data"
 
4- Enable the View Encrypted Data permission for the profile

* If you have the Enable Enhanced Profile User Interface option disabled under Setup | Customize | User Interface you will be able to view this perm from the profile directly if you click on it.  Link to related Image

5- Permission sets could also be used to assign users this permission
6- Make sure Outlook is closed and run SFO, right click on it and click on Settings and enter your credentials, if you need to click on Change user on top and enter the credentials and then open Outlook. Click on Allow and you should be able to finish the wizard
