Salesforce For Outlook error 'You Don't have permission to sync with Salesforce. Contact your administrator for permission'

Issue

When running the Salesforce for Outlook (SFO) setup wizard, users may see the following error message even when an active Outlook Configuration exists in their org:
You don't have permission to sync with Salesforce. Contact your administrator for permission.

Root Cause

This issue most commonly occurs when Platform Encryption is enabled in the Salesforce org. When Platform Encryption is active, the user's profile must have the View Encrypted Data permission enabled in order to use Salesforce for Outlook successfully.
Additionally, if Sync is not enabled in the Outlook Configuration assigned to the user, this error may also appear. Check both conditions when troubleshooting.

Решение

To resolve this error, ensure the affected user has the View Encrypted Data permission enabled on their profile and has a valid, active Outlook Configuration assigned. Follow the steps below.

Steps to Resolve

  1. Right-click the Salesforce for Outlook icon in the system tray and click Exit.
  2. Log in to your Salesforce org as an administrator and confirm the affected user has a valid, active Outlook Configuration assigned to them. Link to related Image
  3. Locate the user's profile to check for the View Encrypted Data permission:
      1. Go to Setup, search Profiles in the Quick Find box, and select the user's profile.

                   b. Look for the View Encrypted Data permission in the profile's permission list.

4. Enable the View Encrypted Data permission directly from the profile.

5. Alternatively, use a Permission Set to assign the View Encrypted Data permission to the affected user or user group.

6. Close Outlook and run SFO. Right-click the SFO icon and click Settings. If prompted, click Change User and enter credentials. Open Outlook, then click Allow to complete the wizard.

Note: If the Enable Enhanced Profile User Interface option is disabled under Setup | Customize | User Interface, the View Encrypted Data permission is visible directly on the profile page without additional navigation.
