Field Level Encrypted Email Addresses within Journey Builder

Описание
As an extra step of security, field level encryption can be implemented to encrypt field values which are defined upon data extension creation. These values do not register as an 'Email Address' data type under the 'Default Email Address' option if you were to attempt to 'Use email attribute from Entry Source.'

When using FLE, Journey Builder can register the encrypted value as an Email Address by using the below configuration:

  • In order for Journey Builder to send to an encrypted Email field you will need to create a 'Population' where the encrypted value can be held.
  • The Population should serve as the main system of record within Marketing Cloud for your records. This way anyone passing through a Journey will already exist here, and have an encrypted value which can be sent to.
  • The relationship for your Population should be based on the value which you would like to be your Subscriberkey (interchangeable with ContactKey). This will need to be a primary key.
  • The data extension which is being used as your Population will need to have the 'Encrypted' field setting on the email address field.
  • Then you are able to select the email address field from this Population through the 'Default Email Address' option in Journey Builder Settings
