Description

Outlook Integration or Salesforce Inbox icon is grayed out in your Microsoft Outlook.

Resolution

Please note that the Salesforce add-in may be grayed out if there is no email open or in the viewing pane.

In order to address the problem of not being able to access the Salesforce add-in from Outlook, please review the following adjustments:

First possible solution. try resetting your Microsoft Outlook view. Perform the following:

1. Open Outlook.
2. Click on the View tab 
3. In the Current View Section, Click on the Reset View setting.
4. Click Yes to reset the current view of Microsoft Outlook.
5. Your Outlook Integration and Salesforce Inbox icons should be active again.

 

Second possible solution. This issue may be resolved by disabling the Salesforce for Outlook add-ins from the Outlook Add-ins section. Perform the following:

1- Open Outlook
2- Click on File | Option | Add-ins
3- Uncheck the box for Side panel and toolbar options for SFO.
 

Third possible solution. The user may currently have the Reading Pane turned off. Try turning it on from the Outlook Menu View tab.

To do this, in Outlook, click on  the View tab on top and click on the Reading Pane drop box in the Layout section and click on Right or Left.


Fourth possible solution.  The user has created Grouping for their Inbox view. Click on the View tab | View Settings for the Current view in the top left corner and remove the grouping by clicking on the Group By... button then select Clear All and click okay.

Fifth possible solution.  If none of these resolves the issue, try uninstalling Salesforce for Outlook and try again.
