When using Salesforce Outlook Integration or Salesforce Inbox in Microsoft Outlook, users may find that the Salesforce add-in icon appears grayed out or is not clickable. This typically occurs when no email is open or in the reading pane, when the Outlook view has been altered, or when the Microsoft Outlook Reading Pane is turned off.
Note: The Salesforce add-in icon will be grayed out whenever no email is open or selected in Outlook — this is the most common cause.
This article provides five troubleshooting solutions to restore the Salesforce add-in icon to its active state.
Resetting the current Outlook view often restores the add-in icon.
Toggling the add-in off and on can resolve display issues caused by a corrupted add-in state.
The Salesforce add-in requires the Reading Pane to be active to display properly.
If the Inbox view has grouping enabled, it can prevent the add-in from activating.
If none of the above solutions resolve the issue, uninstall and reinstall the Salesforce for Outlook add-in.
